though I clutch my blanket and growl when the alarm rings,
Thank you Lord, that I can hear. There are many who are deaf.

though I keep my eyes closed against the morning light as long as possible,
Thank you Lord, that I can see. Many are blind.

though I huddle in my bed and put off rising,
Thank you Lord, that I have the strength to rise. There are many who are bedridden.

though the first hour of my day is hectic, when socks are lost, toast is burned, tempers are short, and my children are so loud,
Thank you Lord, for my family. There are many who are lonely.

though our breakfast table never looks like the pictures in magazines and the menu is at times balanced,
Thank you Lord, for the food we have. There are many who are hungry.

though the routine of my job is often monotonous,
Thank you Lord, for the opportunity to work. There are many who have no jobs.

though I grumble and bemoan my fate from day to day and wish my circumstances were not so modest,
     Thank you Lord, for life.

"Not that I speak from want; for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." -Philippians 4:11-13

"Whom have I in heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you. But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds." -Psalms 73:25-28
